About the event
Overview:
Interventions for individuals who have committed sexual aggression have evolved over the years, leading to a solid understanding of what works in offender rehabilitation. This presentation provides an update on evidence-based practices in the treatment of individuals who have sexually offended and offers research-informed recommendations for interventions.
In line with the literature, this presentation adopts the American Psychological Association's (APA; 2005) definition of evidence-based practice: “the integration of the best available research with clinical expertise in the context of patient characteristics, culture, and preferences” (p. 5). The evolution of treatment for sexual offending will be discussed, alongside specific evidence-based practices.
Additionally, the integration of best practices into HOPE’s curriculum will be reviewed, with specific modules presented to facilitate experiential-based learning opportunities.
