The HOPE Program is seeking a full-time Licensed Psychologist in our sex offender treatment program, located in our HOPE clinic in one of the following regions:

  • San Francisco Region (San Francisco and San Mateo)

  • Salinas Region (Salinas and Capitola)

  • Stockton Region (Stockton and Modesto)

  • San Diego Region (San Diego and Vista)


Program Description:

The HOPE Program is a forensic mental health agency located in California, specializing in the treatment and assessment of adult male and female offenders. HOPE follows the “Practice Standards and Guidelines” of the Association for the Treatment of Sexual Abusers (ATSA) and is a CASOMB Certified Sex Offender Agency. HOPE offers vast opportunities to enhance clinical, assessment and supervision skills. Additionally, participation in our ongoing research opportunities is strongly encouraged.   



Licensed Psychologist will have supervision experience and sex offender and/or forensic experience. The primary role is to provide supervision and training to staff and direct services to the forensic population. 


Responsibilities include: conducting forensic evaluations, facilitating group and individual sex offender specific treatment and providing individualized and group supervision for unlicensed and licensed staff. Candidates must have experience and be passionate about working with the forensic population in a multidisciplinary team setting. The right candidate must have demonstrated competence in working directly with clients and possess working knowledge of individual and group experience. 


Responsibilities Include:


  • To provide clinical supervision for clinicians providing direct client services

  • Facilitate individual supervision meetings and team meetings

  • Clinical assessment and treatment of sex offenders

  • Clinical assessment and treatment of non-offending relatives

  • Case management

  • To maintain program documentation as required

  • To represent the agency as needed in the community (i.e. serving on committees, making presentations on our programs, etc)

  • To participate in agency clinical meetings, team meetings, and staff meetings as well as participate in in-service training.

  • Maintain agency documentation as required

  • Ongoing communication with referral sources

  • Attend training, conferences, and workshops

  • Provide court testimony

  • Program development

  • Other duties as assigned



  • Masters



  • Licensed for a minimum of 2 years



  • Minimum of two years:

  • Thorough knowledge of theory and application of Cognitive-Behavioral Treatment

  • Working knowledge of ATSA’s “Practice Standards and Guidelines”

  • Ability to organize and run a treatment group with adult men or women

  • Ability to produce accurate and complete assessments formulated from a knowledge of sex offender dynamics

  • Ability to write effective case notes and report on data from files

  • Ability to organize work

  • Ability to work independently; but relate issues to manager appropriately

  • Ability to work effectively when under extreme pressure

  • Adhere to the California Sex Offender Management Board - State Certification Requirements (CASOMB)

  • Adhere to board licensing standards and requirements  

  • Strong interpersonal skills and ability to manage difficult client discussions

  • Ability to maintain effective working relationships with peers, supervisors, and outside agencies

  • Ability to work independently and in a group setting

  • Dedication to preventing further sexual victimization and ability to address difficult issues with a challenging population

  • Proven track record of reliability and consistency of high performance

  • Strong desire to learn and grow professionally

  • Exhibits an exemplary work ethic by being highly organized, detailed, and thorough
